You know what’s funny?

I design websites for a living… but I put off updating my own for months.

So if you’ve been procrastinating a big project in your business, consider this your sign that you’re not alone. I see you!

Here’s the thing: as much as I wanted to prioritize my own site, my client work always comes first.

And somehow, here we are, already in the ‘ber months!! How?!

Which felt like the universe saying, ‘okay girl, time to actually do the thing.’

But two things can be true at once:

  1. It’s never too late to tackle something on your list (some things just need the right timing and that's okay!)
  2. When the timing is right, there’s no better time than now (done is always better than perfect!)

Kind of like choosing between making a pot of coffee at home or grabbing one at the coffee shop..you’ll get your caffeine either way, but the timing and energy hit different.

On the never too late side: sure, you can wait a year or two to invest in your brand, build a website, or hire the support you need. There's a time that makes sense for everyone, and it's your unique journey!

But on the other side: everything I’ve ever done that made a difference came from just doing it. Putting it out there even when it wasn’t perfect.. because even in that 'not perfect' stage, I was making sales and booking clients!

Tweaking, trying, adding, removing, working out the kinks as I go. Being a little brave (and a little delulu never hurts).

So, yes! What I'm getting at is I finally launched the new naomigoff.com!

With new fully built out pages, a blog (with just one lonely post, but hey, it’s my new work in progress), and a resource shop featuring Driftly, my very first hand-drawn font!

To be honest with you, doing the thing I’d been avoiding for the past year cleared so much mental clutter.

My old site worked for where I was then. This one feels like where I am now, and where I’m heading.. setting me up to achieve my big goals in the next 24 months!

Here's the thing that we tend to forget. Our brand and website aren’t meant to be totally static, they evolve with us.

They’re living, breathing parts of your business, meant to grow with you, shift as you shift, and reflect the stage of your journey you’re in today.

After taking the summer to work on my own site and overhaul my Investment Guide, I feel so much more confident, clear, and ready for what’s next!

And that’s exactly what I want for you too!

So if you’ve been sitting on your own “I’ll get to it someday” project, here are a few things I kept in mind while finally updating my site that might help you too...

VOL. 15:
5 Mindset Shifts for your Online Presence

1. Your website isn’t a one-and-done project

Think of your website like a living, breathing part of your business. It needs a little check in every now and then...making sure links still work, buttons actually click, photos and products aren’t outdated, and most importantly, that it still feels like you and where your business is at right now.

Here are some things you can update a few times a year:

  • Swap out old photos for current ones that match your current vibe or the season.
  • Refresh your portfolio or service examples so potential clients see your best work now.
  • Make sure newest products are front & center
  • Check your buttons, links & navigation and make sure it's all working and flowing in a way that makes sense for your clients/customers
  • Update testimonials with your most recent client wins
  • Revisit your About page, are you telling the same story, or has your journey shifted?

2.Launching imperfectly > waiting for perfect

Your first site version doesn’t need to have everything. Focus on what will get you online and bookable. If you're DIYing it, a good enough launch usually just needs:

  • A polished Home page (clear headline + intro about who you help).
  • An About page with a personable photo and your story. (Try not to lead with your credentials, start with what makes you human!)
  • A handful of your core products.. 10-15 is a good number to start and not overwhelm yourself (if applicable)
  • A Services/Work With Me page with packages or offers clearly listed.
  • A Contact page that makes it easy to reach you.

You can always add the extras (blog, resources, bells and whistles) later!

3. Your platform matters, but your strategy matters more

Picking the right website platform is step one, but your success comes from how you use it:

  • Squarespace: great for bloggers + small businesses that want simplicity.
  • Showit: perfect for creatives who want high design flexibility.
  • Shopify: best choice for product-based businesses that need strong e-commerce tools and shipping more than 10 products, with built in blogging

But regardless of platform, make sure your site has:

  • A clear CTA (call to action) near the top (like “Work With Me” or “Shop Fall”).
  • Navigation that’s simple and scannable (5–7 links max).
  • Copy that speaks to your audience’s needs, not just about your business.

4. Your brand should feel like an experience

Branding isn’t just visual; it’s the full sensory experience someone has when interacting with you. Ask yourself:

  • Visuals: Do your colors, fonts, and photography align with the mood you want clients to feel?
  • Voice: Is your tone casual, polished, playful, bold...and is it consistent across your site and socials? Does it sound like the real you?
  • Flow: Does your website guide people naturally, or does it feel disjointed and confusing? Put yourself in the shoes of your visitor & make sure it flows easily!
  • Touchpoints: Do your emails, proposals, packaging, and social feeds all look and feel like the same brand family?

5. Investing in your business is investing in results

A polished brand & website often lead to measurable business shifts, like:

  • Attracting clients who are aligned with your style and pricing! (& way less random inquiries that aren't even close to your ideal client!)
  • Cutting down on “price shopper” inquiries because your site communicates value upfront. (For products, that means people get why your items are worth it before they even hit checkout.)
  • Feeling more confident raising your rates because your online presence matches your expertise. (Or bumping up product prices without worrying customers will second guess the quality.)
  • Having more time for your work since your website answers FAQs and does the pre-selling for you.

Here’s what Brittany, owner of Courage & Clay, had to say about her Brand Intensive:

“Coming up on 4 years in business, I realized my branding wasn’t bringing me the joy it should. Working with Naomi was SO fun—she quickly understood my style and brought it to life. This is truly one of the best investments I’ve made in my business, and I couldn’t be happier with the way everything turned out!” - Brittany Wisner, Courage & Clay

When your brand supports you at every stage of your journey, you stop second guessing and start moving forward with clarity!
